Major Responsibilities
Product development - I was part of a team both responsible for enhancing an existing product, and developing a new one. In both, we succeeded, though the company reconsidered whether they'd like to pursue the technology in the latter at this time. My role on the team was raw material selection, chemical analysis, and formulation development. For the creation of the new product, I was responsible for designing all formulations.
Chemistry and thermal treatment - For the new product, I did all the chemical analysis, (primarly XRD phase analysis), and all the thermal treatments employed. I also developed a QC method for said thermal treatments, as we were after a specific phase assemblage rather than a specific treatment time. In doing that, I brought in (free) open source software, and wrote a simple program in C++ to automate the most routine aspects of the analysis.
